Who this is for

Practitioners and engineers whose organisations have started spending real money on AI and cannot yet explain what that spend is buying.

What it covers

  • How AI cost behaves differently from traditional cloud services
  • AI cost allocation, data ingestion, and anomaly detection
  • Workload and rate optimization for AI systems
  • Unit economics, sustainability, and cost-efficient system design
  • Estimating AI workloads, forecasting, budgeting, and governance

Why it's worth it

AI spend broke most of the assumptions FinOps practices were built on. Token-based pricing has no instance to rightsize, GPU capacity is committed to rather than autoscaled, and a single team can move the monthly bill by an order of magnitude in a week. This is the newest of the five certifications and the one where existing cloud cost instincts transfer least well, which is exactly why it is worth doing deliberately rather than improvising.

Prep tips

  • Go in with your own AI bill in front of you, split into inference, training, and the storage and egress around them, because the allocation material only lands once you can see how blurred those lines are in practice.
  • The three levels build on each other, moving from visibility to optimization to forecasting and governance, so resist skipping ahead to the optimization content.
  • Treat the forecasting section as the important one. AI budgets fail on estimation far more often than on inefficiency.

How to use the code

  1. Open the FinOps Certified: AI Value page on learn.finops.org and choose the Self-Paced Course + Certification Exam option.
  2. Enter RUSHABH_20 in the promo code field and apply it before paying.
  3. Check the total actually dropped by 20%. If it didn't, you've probably selected an exam-only, bundle, or subscription SKU, which this code doesn't cover.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need FinOps experience before FinOps Certified: AI Value?
There is no hard prerequisite, but the FinOps Foundation strongly recommends completing either FinOps Certified Practitioner or FinOps Certified Engineer first, because the course assumes you already know the framework.
How much is FinOps Certified: AI Value with a discount code?
The self-paced course plus certification exam lists at $500. With RUSHABH_20 it comes to about $400.
How is FinOps for AI different from regular cloud FinOps?
The levers change. There is no instance to rightsize on token-priced inference, GPU capacity is committed to rather than scaled on demand, and cost per unit of business value is much harder to attribute. The framework still applies; the specific optimization and allocation techniques do not transfer directly.
Is this certification worth it if we only use hosted APIs?
Yes, arguably more so. API-billed AI spend is the easiest kind to lose track of, because it needs no provisioning and shows up as one line on a bill that nobody owns.
Does RUSHABH_20 work on the AI Value plus Technology Value bundle?
No. The code applies to the individual approved offerings, not the bundles. Buy them separately with the code, or price the bundle and compare.

The other FinOps certifications this code covers

RUSHABH_20 takes 20% off five FinOps Foundation offerings. Dedicated guides for the rest:

Doing Kubernetes or CNCF certifications too? Those are a different checkout and a different code: RUSHABH30 takes 30% off the Linux Foundation catalog at training.linuxfoundation.org.
