Where this code comes from
I'm Rushabh Shah, a DevOps engineer in Ahmedabad, a Docker Captain, and a
Grafana Champion. I met the Linux Foundation Education team in person at KubeCon +
CloudNativeCon India, and that conversation eventually turned into an official affiliate
partnership. RUSHABH30 is the customized partner code they set up for my community.
A lot of what I do outside work is helping students and early-career engineers get into cloud-native: running the Grafana & Friends Ahmedabad meetup, workshops, that kind of thing. Certification pricing comes up constantly, because in India especially, a $445 exam is a serious decision. That's why I pushed for this partnership: the code is honored directly by the Linux Foundation (not a recycled coupon from an aggregator site that died two Black Fridays ago), and it has no expiry date. Golden Kubestronaut bundle discount
Golden Kubestronaut is CNCF's recognition for holding all 16 current CNCF and Linux Foundation
certifications at once, not just the five in standard Kubestronaut. The 16 are CKA, CKAD, CKS,
KCNA, KCSA, LFCS, PCA, ICA, CCA, CAPA, CGOA, CBA, OTCA, KCA, CNPA and CNPE. LFCA is not
one of them, even though it's a genuinely useful starting cert on its own. CNCF launched Golden
Kubestronaut in April 2025 and over 100 engineers had earned it within five months, so it's a real,

Worth knowing: your exam eligibility lasts 12 months from purchase. So buying now and scheduling the exam when you're actually ready is a completely sane strategy. It's what most people I know do.
Which certification is actually worth it?
I get this question at almost every meetup, so here's the advice I actually give, not the brochure version:
- Completely new to cloud-native? Start with KCNA. It's multiple-choice, it's the cheap one, and it forces you to learn the landscape's vocabulary before you touch a cluster in anger.
- Working in ops, SRE, or platform engineering? Go straight for the CKA. It's a live-terminal exam, not multiple choice, hiring managers respect it, and the prep transfers directly to your day job.
- A developer who ships to Kubernetes? CKAD covers pods, deployments, config, probes and debugging. Everything you need, none of the cluster-administration depth you won't use.
- Already have the CKA? CKS is the natural next step and one of the strongest security signals you can put on a DevOps CV right now.
- Shaky on Linux itself? Do LFCS first. Kubernetes problems are very often just Linux problems wearing a trench coat.
Don't buy prep until you've used the free stuff
Buy the exam with the discount, sure, but exhaust the free material before paying for prep. I maintain free exam-prep repositories on GitHub (AWS SAA-C03, Azure AZ-104) and write hands-on Kubernetes and observability guides on my blog. For CKA/CKAD/CKS specifically: practice in a real terminal daily. Those exams are speed tests as much as knowledge tests, and no amount of video-watching substitutes for muscle memory.
Should you wait for a bigger sale?
Honest answer: sometimes. The Linux Foundation runs monthly promotions, and the steepest ones historically land around Black Friday / Cyber Monday and year-end. As a partner I get advance notice of upcoming promos before they go public, and I share those on X and LinkedIn.
